An aide to the Ondo State governor and critic of the Minister of Interior, Gani Mohammed Ajowa, has been reportedly arrested by men of the "X" Squad unit of the Nigerian Police this evening.

Gani was in the news recently for his allegation against the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji - Ojo, over alleged anti-party activities in the Ajowa Local Government Area of Ondo State during the council election.

In a statement published alongside a video on his Facebook page, titled, "TINUBU MINISTER STRENGTHS ATIKU'S PDP IN ONDO STATE: EVEN WOMEN RESIST BUNMI TUNJI-OJO, MINISTER OF INTERIOR TO PRESIDENT TINUBU, Gani said:

"The interior minister, Bunmi Tunji-Ojo was resisted today by the ordinary people of Ajowa Akoko in Akoko Northwest when he worked and funded ATIKU's PDP in his own local government area in Ondo State."

"He provided money and deployed the men of civil defense, a department of the ministry he superintends on as a minister to President TINUBU."

"The minister who is popularly referred to as BTO was blamed for working against the political party that made him."

In a subtle release this evening on his social media page, popular human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, disclosed his arrest, saying:

"Apparently, Gani Muhammed Ajowa was taken from Ondo state by the Nigeria Police Force, allegedly using a rogue unit tied to the office of illegal IGP Egbetokun, known as the “X” Squad. Gani’s detention reportedly links to Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s Internal Affairs minister, Bunmi Tunji-Ojo. All attempts to bail Mr. Gani have been unsuccessful. #FreeGaniNow."
